Find the space that exists where silence and darkness meet. Go inside.
In early 2020, we were invited by Southerly Gold to create an installation at Good Children Gallery in New Orleans. The show was cancelled because of COVID lockdown. For the exhibition we were asked to contemplate the 5th element — call it void, ether, spirit, prayer. The pandemic was a time of deep reckoning and unknown we are all being asked to go inside to face fear grief and uncertainty to reprioritize to heal. When working with the blindfolds, many of us were surprised at how transported we were by the darkness. With one limitation a million possibilities open up. This practice revealed new depths of listening and we intuitively began to move as a collective body. That gives me hope for the future. Try to experience it the way you would meditate; with a soft focus and an open, unattached mind. Find the space that exists where silence and darkness meet. Go inside.
